About Prana Llama, a Mindful Bodyworker
Jimena Galvez, Yoga Teacher &  Licensed Massage Therapist  #10636

Jimena (pronounced he~men~ah) the owner of Prana Llama Mindful Bodywork, attended the East West College of Healing Arts, a nationally accredited school for massage therapy. In the spring of 2003 she graduated with an emphasis in Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, Craniosacral Therapy, and Traditional Thai Massage. She became licensed in Oregon and certified nationally.

After graduating from East West, she worked in a chiropractic clinic to gain experience, during which time she also began her own massage practice part-time. Before Jimena opened Prana Llama Mindful Bodywork, she served on the staff of the Barefoot Sage, The Center for Natural Medicine, Root Whole Body, and Dynamic Therapeutic Massage. These varied massage therapy environments offered the opportunity for Jimena to work with many clients who required an enormous variety of massage technique. These practice spaces allowed her to understand the space she envisioned creating to practice massage. After several years she decided to pursue her  goal of working only for herself.
Prana Llama was officially opened in July of 2006.

Jimena has a true love for yoga including Asana- the postures, Pranayama- the breath-work and meditation. She has been studying and teaching for ten years and is currently training to earn her 500 hr teaching certification. Her yoga practice is essential in her daily life and finds the ancient wisdom enhances her ability to offer a nurturing presence to her clients. Yoga and Ayurveda led Jimena to bodywork; she found herself intrigued with Anatomy, Physiology, and the Body-Mind connection.
She knew that her massage education would enhance her yoga teaching, and found great tranquility in understanding what was occurring in her own body through experiencing bodywork.
It is her belief that in our society stress reduction is an absolute necessity and that we each have the opportunity to improve the quality of our lives though being more present in our bodies. Jimena loves offering massage and private yoga sessions & she encourages people to take time to find balance for themselves on a regular basis.

She has continued to expand her knowledge of bodywork through participating in a variety of courses from Craniosacral Therapy with The Upledger Institute, Breema , Hydrotherapy with Stones, Aromatherapy, Myofasial techniques for the cervical spine with The Rolf Institute, Prenatal Massage, and Reflexology. Jimena also finds that connecting with colleagues enriches her professional growth. She adamantly believes that learning, and expansion of our minds never ceases and is currently working on her Bachelors.

In her spare time, Jimena takes advantage of the incredible natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and especially enjoys hiking and trail running with her husband and German Shorthaired Pointer pup Django. Jimena is a local wine enthusiast, loves to play piano, take in a good film, bake, tend to her garden & reconnect on her yoga mat. She loves her weekly visits to the Portland Farmers Market and exploring our vibrant music scene.
